SUMMER PROGRAM SAFETY POLICIES FOR COVID-19

CENCADIAN incorporated will be implementing the following enhanced practices & procedures as required by the Province of Manitoba. We will continue to use routine practices as per Infection Control Guidelines for summer day camp, in addition to taking extra measures regarding cleaning and sanitizing.

Below is a list of prevention measures we will be implementing at this time.

  • Any child, parent, staff or visitor must not enter the camp space if they are sick, even if symptoms are mild (such as a mild cold). Each day parents must check their children’s temperature before leaving home. (Normal temps are: Mouth: 35.5-37.5 C (95.9-99.5 F), Underarm:36.5-37.5 C (97.7-99.5 F), Ear: 35.8-38C (96.4-100.4 F).
  • All individuals, including camp participants, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors must be screened including daily temperature checks either at home prior to arrival or upon arrival at program setting prior to entry.
  • Having arrived at the camp, only the student is allowed to enter into the center. All adults will sanitize their hands upon arrival to the camp. Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available in the main entrance area of the camp.
  • Once the students enter the camp each day, staff will be asking if the parent/guardian took the child’s temperature, & what the temperature was.  Staff will also ask whether the parents/guardians administered fever reducing medication to their kids within the last 24 hours.

The following questions will be asked as part of the Risk Assessment: Initial Screening Questions.

  • Have you been in contact in the last 14 days with someone that is confirmed to have COVID-19?
  • Have you had laboratory exposure while working directly with specimens known to contain COVID-19?
  • Have you travelled outside Manitoba in the last 14 days, excluding personal travel to border communities?
  • Have you been in a large group setting in Manitoba in the last 14 days where someone has been confirmed to have COVID-19, such as a flight or a large meeting or event?
  • Have you had close contact (face to face contact within 2 metres/6 feet) with someone who is ill with respiratory symptoms?
  • In addition to any of the above, does your child, yourself, or anyone in your household have cold or flu symptoms, ex fever higher than 38C, cough, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, loss of smell, diarrhea?

***If the response is yes to any of the above questions the child will not be able to further enter the camp and must be taken home.

***If the response is no to all of the above questions, the child may enter.

  • If a child exhibits any of the symptoms above during the day the parent will be notified to have the child (ren) picked up immediately. Note that if you have more than one child at the center, all children must be taken home.
  • In keeping with physical distancing, if a family is in the entrance space waiting to enter the building, please remain outdoors, and if there is more than one family waiting outdoors, please be sure to physically distance while waiting for your turn to enter the center.
  • Symptomatic camp participants will be immediately separated from others in a supervised area until they can go home. In addition, where possible, anyone who is providing care to the camp participant should maintain a distance of at least 2 meters.
  • We will continue to support you and your family the best we can during this time. Our practices will involve physical distancing by maintaining smaller groups, and we will continue to update you as information is shared to us.
  • Programs will keep daily records of anyone (e.g., camp participants, parent/guardian, staff and visitors) entering the program setting who stays for 15 minutes or longer. Records (e.g., name, contact information, time of arrival/departure, screening completion etc.) must be kept up-to-date and available to facilitate contact tracing in the event of a confirmed COVID-19 case or outbreak.
  • Encourage physical distancing of at least 2 meters between camp participants, parents/guardians and staff by:
  • Spreading camp participants out into different areas;
  • Spreading furniture, camp equipment, and activity stations out into different areas;
  • Using visual cues (e.g., signs, posters, floor markings, etc.);
  • Staggering or alternating lunchtime and outdoor playtime to reduce number of individuals in lunch area;
  • Incorporating more individual activities or activities that encourage more space between camp participants;
